Transcript of "10 top time-saving tech tips" | Smart Small Business Marketing, by Sales Renewal | Scoop.it
Tech columnist David Pogue shares 10 simple, clever tips for computer, web, smartphone and camera users. And yes, you may know a few of these already -- but there's probably at least one you don't.
Sales Renewal's insight:

Definitely plenty to learn here!

For example, did you know:

"first of all, on the web, when you're on the web and you want to scroll down, don't pick up the mouse and use the scroll bar. That's a terrible waste of time. Do that only if you're paid by the hour. Instead, hit the space bar. The space bar scrolls down one page. Hold down the Shift key to scroll back up again. So space bar to scroll down one page. It works in every browser on every kind of computer."

Matt Cutts explains how to spot low quality guest blogging.
Sales Renewal's insight:

Even though this was an April Fool's post, the tips on guest posting still ring true:

Don't: Outgoing links to one domain (probably yours)

Do: Outgoing links to domains that add value to the topic (yours or others')

Don't: Rich anchor text links = spam

Do: Relevant anchor text links

Don't: No “nofollow” attribute added

Do: Add the nofollow attribute to outgoing links in order not to manipulate PageRank

Don't: Shallow, thin content

Do: Add value - don't repeat what's already out there.

How Social Affects SearchThe traditional approach to SEO has been centered on creating excellent content that is easily searchable via search engine bots. To be clear, this approach is still perfectly valid.

The main difference now is that there is a social layer to this type of SEO-friendly content development. In addition to being high-quality, your web content must be sharable. The debate continues, and still remains to be resolved. We think "somewhere between “absolutely” and “not quite" " is a good perspective.
